Replacing a Tune-O-Matic Bridge
There are many reasons you may need to replace a Tune-O-Matic bridge. Sometimes old Tune-O-Matics will begin to collapse in the middle which can make for an improper radius across the fingerboard and poor playability. Maybe the bridge is just worn out from years of abuse, or you would like to upgrade to a higher quality bridge to improve functionality and tone. Mojotone has one of the largest selections of some of the highest quality Tune-O-Matic bridges around. Here’s what we recommend when replacing a Tune-O-Matic bridge….
- Look at the Tune-O-Matic you are going to replace. What style is it, and how does it mount? In general, older Gibson ABR-1 style Tune-O-Matics have a wire retainer across the saddle screws, and are post mounted, while the newer Nashville style Tune-O-Matics have no wire retainer, and are stud mounted. If you are looking for a direct replacement, it is very important to look for these details.
- Most of our Tune-O-Matics come with un-notched saddles that require minor slotting for the strings. This allows you to customize the string spacing, and closely match the radius of the strings to the fingerboard. We recommend using our nut files to notch the saddles, and our radius gauges to check the radius of the strings.

Stevie Ray Vaughan used this because he trusted Rene Martinez to help him get his tone. The idea is simple, yet oblivious to many…Stevie’s tone came from a wall of sound.
Guitar players have wasted thousands of hours twisting knobs, looking for the tone in one amp but Stevie used several amps simultaneously. That’s how he got that clean, yet gravely deep, piercing tone.
This signal splitter lets you send your original signal to as many as six different amps/devices at once. The more amps you connect the greater the range of tone you can acheive.
Each splitter box is hand made and signed/serialized on the back by Rene Martinez!
